FORCE11\u2019s conference has always been a unique forum where researchers and scholarly communications specialists from publishing organizations, libraries and intermediaries can gather to discuss the future of research communication. After moving to a virtual footing because of the pandemic, with the generous support of the UCLA Library, FORCE11 conference will be returning to an in-person format in 2024! This conference draws research professionals, librarians, administrators, publishers, and technical support into one space to discuss the latest developments in the field, and discuss strategies for the more effective application of Open Science programs and initiatives. Register Now!<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/a>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n We will be using the Whova application for registration and as our conference platform. The FORCE11 conference is sharing this registration system with FORCE11 Scholarly Communication Institute (FSCI) happening earlier in the week (Note: FSCI has an in-person and online component. FORCE11 Conference is in-person only).<\/p>\n\n\n\n For attendees planning to only attend the FORCE11 Conference, the process for registration is simple. Just go to the Whova Registration page<\/a>, select the \u201cFORCE11 Conference\u201d option, and you will gain access to all events at the conference<\/strong> (FORCE11 Conference-only attendees can disregard course selection since these are only applicable to FSCI attendees).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note: every FORCE11 Conference registrants can also select the free \u201cFSCI General Admission\u201d<\/strong> in order to gain access to all FSCI\u2019s (optional and virtual) plenary and community events. This is optional but comes at no cost and offers more opportunities to engage in the FORCE11 community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Lodging can be expensive in LA. So, we have worked with UCLA to offer Campus housing options<\/strong>. This cost $209+tax\/night and includes a single bed in a dormitory, with a private bathroom attached to each room. It also includes breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria. There is a limited amount of rooms available<\/em>, and this is a very affordable rate for the UCLA Campus area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you would like this option, on the registration page, you can select the number of nights that you will stay in Campus Housing; please think this through and choose carefully! After you complete this first page, on the second page you can indicate the dates you will arrive and depart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n UCLA Guest house is a decent 3-star hotel that is located directly on the UCLA campus. It is more expensive than the above option ($249\/night plus tax) and contains breakfast (but not lunch). It is much more accessible and easier to reach the UCLA Library from the Guest House. If you are interested in this option, you must make your own UCLA Guest House reservation by calling (310) 825-2923 by June 28, 2024, <\/strong>and refer to the group code for FSCI\/FORCE11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of course, there are many options for lodging in the Westwood Village and Los Angeles area, and self-pay campus parking and food options will be available for commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2014 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Note that if you have any mobility issues:<\/strong> the Campus housing option places you in a student dormitory about a 15 minute walk from the UCLA Library. Walking this distance requires going down a hill and back up a hill.
