The Managing Editor supports the operations of the journal by ensuring manuscripts move smoothly through the submission process, maintaining contact with authors, and providing other support, as needed by the Editor(s)-in-Chief (EIC). They also provide general journal support, coordinating with the Publisher and Editorial Board Chair, maintaining shared workspaces, and managing external communications through both the website and listserv.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe time commitment for this position varies throughout the year depending on current projects and number of submissions, but averages to 1-2 hours per week. Regular commitments include: monthly editor check-ins (30 mins), quarterly editorial team check-ins (30 mins), and monthly Editorial Board meetings (1 hour). Editors are flexible with respect to scheduling and will work with the successful applicant&#039;s scheduling needs. Primary communication occurs through email or the&nbsp;JLSC&nbsp;Slack Workspace.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor detailed information on the Managing Editor responsibilities, please review&nbsp;the&nbsp;JLSC&nbsp;Managing Editor Job Ad.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHow to Apply<\/p>\n<p>To apply for the Managing Editor position,&nbsp;please provide a current CV and a brief cover letter or statement addressing the outlined responsibilities and criteria for selection (below) to&nbsp;editors@jlsc-pub.org&nbsp;by February 14, 2021. Applicants will be reviewed by the Editors-in-Chief and current Managing Editor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe preferred start date is May 2021; the current Managing Editor will assist the new Managing Editor for an approximately one-month transition period and will be available for consultation after the transition period.<\/p>\n<p>\tManaging Editor candidates should demonstrate potential institutional support or individual dedication for the time necessary to provide ongoing timely support for authors and the journal as a whole if they were to be selected for the position.
