The group will take responsibility for engaging the FORCE11 and wider scholarly communications community, with an initial focus on ensuring that FORCE11&rsquo;s initiatives and events are successfully promoted to as wide a potential audience as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">The group&rsquo;s purpose:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:circle\">\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">To support the <\/span><a href=\"\/about-force11\/\">aims and objectives<\/a> of FORCE11<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">To encourage wider <\/span><a href=\"\/membership-overview-benefits\/\">membership<\/a> of FORCE11<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">To manage communications channels and activities, including the FORCE11 website, email newsletter, discussion list and social media channels<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Specific responsibilities for volunteers will include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:circle\">\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Joining regular web-based conference calls<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Taking on tasks such as sending an email newsletter, circulating an announcement via social media and \/ or discussion lists, adding news items to the FORCE11 website, or interviewing members \/ delegates to capture quotes \/ copy for marketing purposes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Writing promotional copy, articles, blog postings and social media content to help promote FORCE11<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Designing visual materials for use on the web or in print<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Reporting on the impact of communications efforts, via web traffic or social media reports<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Assisting in the marketing of the annual FORCE11 conference&nbsp;<\/span>and FORCE11 Scholarly Communications Summer Institute.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">Helping to ensure the FORCE11 Board of Directors and other staff \/ committees are updated about activities and results<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">The group will be chaired by a member of the FORCE11 <\/span><a href=\"\/f11_tool\/?A=L2Fib3V0L2RpcmVjdG9ycy1hbmQtYWR2aXNvcnM=&amp;\">Board of Directors<\/a>. Volunteers should be members of FORCE11 (it&rsquo;s free to join!) and will ideally represent a wide range of FORCE11 stakeholder types. Experience with communications tactics and tools is helpful, but not mandatory. Good web connectivity, web literacy, and a willingness to learn are critical.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e814f2ae-12fb-1569-ee2e-6b4ab1c0cfd4\">FORCE 11 comprises scholars, librarians, archivists, publishers and research funders who are passionate about improving the processes by which knowledge is created and shared.
