The Force11 Scholarly Commons working group<\/a> has been collaborating since October 2015 to create a set of principles to guide an open system of research and scholarly information management and sharing.  In the last meeting of the working group<\/a>, it was pointed out that North American and Western European perspectives dominated the work of Force11 Scholarly Commons and its draft principles.<\/p>\n

El grupo de trabajo Force11 Scholarly Commons<\/a>, perteneciente al consorcio Force11, ha estado trabajando desde octubre de 2015 en la creaci\u00f3n de un conjunto de principios para un sistema abierto de investigaci\u00f3n, uso y compartici\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica. En la \u00faltima reuni\u00f3n del grupo de trabajo<\/a>, se se\u00f1al\u00f3 que las perspectivas de Am\u00e9rica del Norte y Europa Occidental dominaban el trabajo del grupo Force11 Scholarly Commons y los principios avanzados hasta el momento.<\/em><\/p>\n

In response, we want to examine the ways in which the Scholarly Commons initiative excluded diverse and important perspectives, perpetuating a problematic understanding of scholarly communication and participation that could disenfranchise half the world.  <\/p>\n

En respuesta, queremos examinar las maneras en que las que la iniciativa del grupo Scholarly Commons excluy\u00f3 involuntariamente perspectivas diversas e importantes, perpetuando una comprensi\u00f3n sesgada de la comunicaci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica y cerrando la participaci\u00f3n de gran parte del mundo acad\u00e9mico.<\/em><\/p>\n

The goal moving forward is to create recommendations for improvement and best practices for the work of the Scholarly Commons and other initiatives to improve scholarly and scientific communication.Through a series of open community calls, asynchronous collaboration, and an in-person workshop, we invite everyone to contribute to and advance the conversation about how a scholarly commons could “meaningfully be built for and by researchers in the global south" and other communities1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Apuntamos a crear recomendaciones para establecer mejores pr\u00e1cticas para el trabajo de la comunidad cient\u00edfica y otras iniciativas para mejorar la comunicaci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica y cient\u00edfica. A trav\u00e9s de una serie de llamadas comunitarias abiertas asincr\u00f3nicas y un taller en persona, invitamos los interesados a contribuir y avanzar con nosotros en la conversaci\u00f3n sobre la forma en que un espacio cient\u00edfico com\u00fan podr\u00eda "ser construido de manera significativa para y por los investigadores en el sur global" y otras comunidades1<\/sup>.<\/em><\/p>\n
