The conference aims <strong>to raise awareness of open access, to increase understanding of key challenges and to identify where international common policies and frameworks could support the adoption of open access monograph publishing in the humanities and social sciences (HSS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key topics of the conference will include new open access business models, maintaining quality, the future of peer-review, creative commons licensing and international policy development<\/strong>. Current confirmed speakers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<strong>Kathleen Fitzpatrick &ndash; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedobsolescence.net\/kathleen-fitzpatrick\/\">Director of Scholarly Communication at the Modern Language Association<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<strong>Frances Pinter &ndash; Executive Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowledgeunlatched.org\/\">Knowledge Unlatched <\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<strong>Martin Eve and Caroline Edwards &ndash; founding members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openlibhums.org\/\">Open Library of Humanities<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<strong>Cameron Neylon &ndash; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plos.org\/staff\/cameron-neylon\/\">Plos&rsquo;s Director of Advocacy<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<strong>Carrie Calder &ndash; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palgrave.com\/\">Marketing Director of Palgrave Macmillan<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To<strong> support HSS researchers,<\/strong> the second day of the conference will include <strong>practical sessions<\/strong> on topics including ORCID, funding open access monographs, knowing your rights, finding a reputable OA publisher, promoting your book and altmetrics.
