Summary

The Rebuilding Scholarly Communication and Research Community in Post-Conflict context (ReSCORE) working group focuses on establishing sustainable research infrastructure and enhancing scholarly communication in regions recovering from conflict. While starting with Somalia as a pilot case, the group will develop scalable resources and frameworks applicable to other post-conflict and under-resourced settings. Key activities include creating peer-review systems, establishing academic journals, organizing research conferences, and fostering local and international collaboration among scholars. To ensure sustainability, the group will explore mentorship programs, linking researchers in post-conflict communities with global networks of experts to share knowledge, best practices, and technical support. By addressing the unique challenges of rebuilding academic communities, the group aims to empower local researchers to drive innovation and contribute to global scholarship. Ultimately, this working group seeks to serve as a model for strengthening scholarly communication and research communities in other post-conflict regions.

Goals

The goals of the working group are to develop scalable frameworks for scholarly communication infrastructure in post-conflict settings, establish connections and mentorship opportunities between local researchers and global experts, and pilot initiatives for peer-review systems, academic journals, and research conferences.

Deliverables

  • Practical guidelines and resources for building scholarly communication systems in post-conflict regions.
  • A mentorship program blueprint for connecting local researchers with international experts.
  • A pilot implementation of peer-reviewed journals and research conferences in Somalia.
  • A toolkit adaptable to other post-conflict and under-resourced settings.
